Sukmin Yun
I am an assistant professor in the Department of Artificial Intelligence at Hanyang University ERICA, leading the Vision AI Lab (VAIL @ HYU). Before joining HYU, I was a postdoctoral fellow at MBZUAI, working with Professor Eric Xing, and was a Ph.D. student in the School of Electrical Engineering at Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), advised by Prof. Jinwoo Shin.
Vision AI Lab (VAIL) at HYU.
Our vision: At VAIL, we are dedicated to developing vision-centered intelligent systems to enable them to naturally interact with the physical world, beyond just communication with people. To achieve this, we recognize the importance of AI's ability to understand various sensory information, such as vision. By focusing on vision data-centered AI development, we are steadily advancing technologies that enable a more seamless understanding of the real world.
Research: We are broadly interested in advancing foundational areas of machine learning and deep learning at large. Recently, we've focused on the following topics:
Efficient AI: What is required for large AI models to effectively emerge into the world?
Vision AI: How can intelligence be formed from visual information?
Multi-modal AI: How can we effectively integrate information from various sensors and enable AI to interpret it?
Foundation Models: How can large AI understand and describe the dynamic real world effectively?
Open positions: I'm currently looking for highly motivated graduate & undergraduate students. If you are interested in joining, send me an email with your transcript and CV.
